Suppression of natural urges

07/31/2021 //  by Dawn//  Leave a Comment

When there’s a problem in these areas it can lead to long term damage. One of the ways we can stress these areas are through suppressed urges the 13 urges not to be suppressed are urination, vomiting, eating, breathing, excretion, sneezing, drinking, ejaculation, belching, crying, farting, yawning and sleeping.

In Ayurveda, we look at the body as a vessel with “resorts of life”. These areas hold a significant of prana, or life force. When there’s a problem in these areas it can lead to long term damage. One of the ways we can stress these areas are through suppressed urges, the 13 urges not to be suppressed are urination, vomiting, eating, breathing, excretion, sneezing, drinking, ejaculation, belching, crying, farting, yawning and sleeping.

I thought that i would address the cause and effect of 5 urges that we often suppress due to timing, social etiquette or stress

  1. Suppression of the urge to fart causes constipation, difficult urination, abdominal pain and distention and various VATA disorders. The retained air waste is absorbed back in bone and marrow which can aggravate arthritis or nerve disorders. It deranged digestion and aggregates the VATA of the whole body.
  2. Suppression of the urge to urinate deranged kidneys and the urinary tract. It causes painful urination, bladder pain and low back aches as well as headaches.
  3. Suppression of the urge to belch or cough causes hiccups, difficulty breathing and palpitations. It can derange the respiratory system.
  4. Suppression of the urge to breathe causes cough, asthma, a difficult or shallow breath, lack of energy and heart disease. We often don’t know that we’re suppressing but can happen when we’re disturbed or afraid. Conscious breathing can correct this.
  5. suppression of the urge to cry causes eye diseases, allergies, light headedness and heart disease. It’s connected to suppressed emotions and it can lead to stuttering.

In a world that restrains us and suppresses us like our world has been, we often need to pay more attention to what our body wants and not what the outside is telling us it wants. What are you suppressing that needs to be let out?
